Town of Carrboro FY26 Priorities

Update

In FY Q1-26, no new bike lanes were added.   Each year the Town puts a resurfacing contract out to bid, as part of that work any bike lanes within the contract area are restriped and improved to the extent possible.  The resurfacing contract did refresh bike lane markings on several roads in town where bike lanes did already exist including adding new green bike crossings. The existing bike lanes on Fidelity St. did get the addition of a bike lane buffer that did not exist previously.

In FY25, Public Works added 2,840 ft of bike lanes.

Next Steps

Public Works will continue to collaborate to implement bike lanes in priority areas outlined in the Comprehensive Plan. Challenges include securing funding and aligning resources to support the effective expansion of bike and shared lanes throughout the community.
