Update

Orange County, Carrboro, Chapel Hill and Hillsborough are partnering to develop the County’s first Heat Action Plan. The plan is designed to capture heat actions that take place when heat is in the forecast, during the heat season, and over the course of multiple years. It captures existing programs to address heat risks and recommends a series of actions intended to provide outreach and education to the public, enhance emergency response mechanisms, and cool homes and neighborhoods. 

Next Steps

The Heat Action Plan is expected to be adopted in 2026.
