Update

As a result of flooding from Tropical Storm Chantal, the Town sustained the loss of 42 vehicles and pieces of heavy equipment. The remaining municipal fleet comprises 77 vehicles, of which 35% are hybrid or electric (22 hybrid and 4 electric), 42% are gasoline-powered, and 23% run on diesel.

Next Steps

The flooding event offers the Town a strategic opportunity to shift from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric alternatives, pending budget constraints and supply chain considerations. Of the 42 vehicles scheduled for replacement, 12 are planned to be electric, 3 hybrid, and 6 powered by gasoline or diesel.
