The City of Maple Ridge has created the Fire Master Plan to prepare our growing community for the increased risks of today and tomorrow. By implementing Phase 1 we take the first of many steps towards ensuring that our City’s response matches or exceeds the amount needed to deal with any situation presented to our crews. This first phase includes matching staffing levels with National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) standards, establishing a Fire Prevention Division, and hiring a Corporate Emergency Program Manager, as well as preparing for the construction of Fire Hall No. 3. By increasing staff, Fire Services will be able to respond more promptly to incidents, and with the construction of Fire Hall No. 3 on the west side of the City, those responses can be even more agile able to dispatch initial responders from the location closest the incident. Likewise, the City aims to increase overall prevention efforts and effectiveness through the Fire Prevention Division and our new Corporate Emergency Program Manager. By ensuring that staff and the public are well-educated in fire prevention, disaster management and other incidents, the City can lower its overall risk.
