Conduct a Recreation Facility Feasibility Study
City of Maple Ridge Corporate Plan

Description

Guided by the 2023 Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan that identified the need for new amenities like pools and ice rinks and Council's strategic plan, the recreation feasibility study commenced in 2024. The study includes extensive community engagement, analysis of current future demand for recreation facilities, site and technical assessments and a preliminary facility design concept to determine if Hammond Community Park is feasible to position a future aquatic facility at that site.

The technical assessments and site analysis that form a significant component of the final feasibility study are nearly complete.  Phase 2 of the public engagement was completed in Spring 2025. The feasibility study project is nearing the final stages of completion and refinement in preparation for a report to Council in the Fall.

The feasibility study is a comprehensive assessment of the viability of positioning an aquatics facility at Hammond Community Park and was a recommended strategy of the 2023 Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan.
