KR Public Update

Work continues towards implementing the urban forest management plan with a number of initiatives underway including developing a 5 year tree planting plan supported by a federal grant. The City has also made a grant application for additional funding towards planting new street trees and expanding urban tree canopy in areas of the City that have high heat risks. This work is a major part of the City's ongoing work to address climate challenges in the community in support of the Resilient Futures 2050: Climate Action Plan and the Urban Forest Management Strategy. Through street plantings we improve the liveability and enjoyment of our public spaces while also managing ongoing changes in our environment.
