City of Maple Ridge Corporate Plan

Description

Insights from interviews with key interest holders will help shape the City’s Innovation Ecosystem Action Plan by clarifying local strengths, gaps, partnership opportunities, and priority actions for fostering the development of an innovation ecosystem, which is an important contributor to innovation-driven economic growth. The City will conduct at least 30 interviews with key interest holders—including businesses, post-secondary institutions, investors, tech workers, startup founders, and non-profit organizations—to identify and validate the critical components of Maple Ridge’s emerging (and future growing) innovation ecosystem.

KR Public Update

More than 30 stakeholder engagements have been completed with community members, municipal partners, universities, colleges, schools, emerging startups, and established businesses across the region. These engagements have included activities such as an in-person focus group, survey, and multiple one-on-one entrepreneur and influencer meetings.  These engagements, along with research and other related activities, have generated a clearer understanding of the conditions required to support an emerging innovation ecosystem, including the need for stronger entrepreneurial support infrastructure with regional relevance. While this work has identified gaps, opportunities, and potential activation ecosystem models, upcoming events and continued community engagement will help further refine and validate the Maple Ridge-specific perspective and inform recommendations for the City’s Innovation Ecosystem Action Plan.
