Description

This key result focuses on increasing proactive engagement with the public through joint safety walks with Bylaw and RCMP, foot and bike patrols and other policing initiatives to provide the community with opportunities for positive interactions with public safety officials. This will increase over time public confidence and trust and demonstrate that the City is acting proactively to police the community.

This initiative is now in the implementation stage. Maple Ridge RCMP and Bylaws are working together, to increase bike and foot patrols in the downtown core. The primary focus of this initiative is to have a more proactive and visual presence in the community. Additional goals include addressing property crime concerns and related community safety issues.

Work continues with regards to drafting clear documentation, reporting, and evaluation processes, to support consistent operations and accountability.
