Strengthen the capacity of Fire Services to support a rapidly growing community by conducting a staffing model assessment, optimizing reporting structures for efficient service delivery, and implementing a comprehensive succession planning model.
City of Maple Ridge Corporate Plan

Description

As the City of Maple Ridge grows, so too does its risk from fires and other emergency incidents, both wild and urban; to assist with mitigating those risks, the Maple Ridge Fire Services has been created and regularly defends our city. To ensure continued effectiveness and provide the best quality of care possible, Fire Services will be conducting a staffing model assessment to ensure that there are always adequate staff available to deal with any incident that may occur at any time of day. Likewise, to ensure that more staff time is spent dealing with incidents, they seek to optimize reporting structures so that staff can attend scenes faster and with more complete information. Finally, in the acknowledgement that leadership transitions can be disruptive to staff, hampering their ability to effectively respond to incidents, Fire Services will implement a comprehensive succession planning model to mitigate these impacts, providing a firm foundation of expectation for front-line staff. By implementing these changes, Fire Services will be better prepared to respond to incidents and ensure the safety of the community through a quick, consistent response, with proper manpower to be able to respond effectively to any situation.
