An “urban forest” refers to all greenery, be it trees, shrubs, bushes, grassy boulevards, and parks, or even flowers within the City’s limits, especially on populated residential and commercial streets. By creating an Urban Forest Management Strategy (UFMS), the City is committing to preserving those flora already existing and enhancing the diversity and wellbeing of the forest. The UFMS will guide staff and future generations on how to sustainably manager and expand these vital green spaces, increasing our overall tree canopy to help mitigate as well some of the effects of climate change.
