Recent provincial legislation announcements require the City to update the Official Community Plan. The Official Community Plan, including Area Plans, will be updated in sections to reflect and capture the changes to the provincial housing legislation as well as other key policy initiatives recently undertaken by the City (e.g. Housing Needs Report, Urban Forest Management Strategy, Climate Action Plan, etc).
As a part of this process, the City hosted two Open Houses at the Maple Ridge Library as an opportunity for the community to learn more about how the City is addressing the Provincial legislative requirements for Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing (SSMUH) and Transit-Oriented Areas (TOAs).
In addition, the first updated section of the Official Community Plan was presented to Council for consideration of first reading in May. The proposed amendments to the Albion Area Plan reflect previous Council direction regarding land uses as well as the necessary updates to align with the provincial housing legislation.
