Project Objectives |
This project consists of improvements to Terra Mar Drive Bridge, which was built in 1981. The plans were developed based on FDOT's Bridge Management System Report.
The project includes replacement recommendations for the deck, repairs to the superstructure, substructure, safety railings, utilities upgrades, and aesthetics enhancement.
Progress Update | |
- Adjusted due date reflects the delay caused by the presence of pre-existing “dead man” footings used to hold up sea wall
- The problematic existing footings were discovered during helical test pile conducted by the contractor
- These obstructions prevented the previously planned helical pile installations
- Contractor was forced to de-mobilize while awaiting re-design and permitting for project
- Murray Logan crew was on site in July, chipping and clearing obstructions with large hammer drill prior to sheet installations along West side of bridge
- Old Toewall in mud-line stalled sheet pile installed, further demo was required

SCHEDULE TASKS, IN PROGRESS AND UPCOMING:
Work Completed in SUMMER 2021:
•Whiting-Turner Subcontractor remobilized Monday (07/12/2021) to proceed
with work per RFI #4.1 Response & Permit Revision Approval.
•95% of all Vinyl Sheet Piles have been installed throughout the East & West
Seawall.
Work Projected in August/September 2021:
•Demolition of both East & West Seawall Cap to be completed.
•Bulkhead Rebar Installation to be completed for both East & West Seawall.
