Project Objectives

This project consists of improvements to Terra Mar Drive Bridge, which was built in 1981. The plans were developed based on FDOT's Bridge Management System Report.
The project includes replacement recommendations for the deck, repairs to the superstructure, substructure, safety railings, utilities upgrades, and aesthetics enhancement.
Progress Update

  • A slight delay has been caused by the presence of pre-existing “dead man” footings used to hold up sea wall
  • The problematic existing footings were discovered during helical test pile conducted by the contractor  
  • These obstructions prevented the previously planned helical pile installations
  • Contractor forced to de-mobilize while awaiting re-design and permitting for project
