Project Objectives

This project provides for the replacement of SE 5th Avenue Bridge, which was built in 1959. The plans derive from the assessments in FDOT's Bridge Management System Report.  The Report includes recommendations for repairs and/or replacements to the deck, superstructure, and substructure components, pilings and jackets. The bridge will be raised to match the vertical clearance at US 1/Federal Highway.
Progress Update

  •  All cut-off piles from old bridge have been fully extracted, broken down and removed from site.
  • Jetting pump and jet equipment removed from work barge. 
  • Disassembled template and moved crane and work to North side of bridge until consensus is reached regarding rapid erosion during sheet pile installations on South side. 
  • Turbidity curtain full containing all sediment from Southbound embankment.
