Project Objectives |
The SR A1A Streetscape project involves various improvements from Hillsboro Inlet to Sunset Lane (South of Terra Mar Drive) such as undergrounding overhead utilities to reduce power outages during storms and improve the aesthetics of the corridor. Additional improvements include widening of sidewalks, bike lanes, traffic calming features, lighting and landscaping.

- This project has been approved for surtax funding with $6.7 million matching provided by the City
- Sections of sidewalk replaced along East side of S Ocean Blvd; one in front of 1398 S Ocean Blvd and two in front of 1000 S Ocean Blvd
- Fresh sidewalk slabs blocked off with caution tape and MOT cones, expansion joint installed between curb and slab adjacent to 1398 S Ocean Blvd
- Stakes laid out indicating locations and station numbers of future light poles
- Crew installing utility access vaults in sidewalks along Northwest corner of A1A and Atlantic Blvd
- Equipment truck and vac trailer staged along North side of Atlantic
- Crew removing pavers and hand-digging excavations prior to utility vault installations, and utilities located and marked in roadway and sidewalks at Southwest corner of A1A and Atlantic Blvd
- Conduits installed via directional borings at Southwest corner of A1A and Atlantic
- Excavations from borings at Southwest corner of A1A and Atlantic have been backfilled and sealed with asphalt patch
- Utilities located and marked along South side of Atlantic Blvd along storefronts
- Contractor is providing MOT and assisting with all pedestrian and vehicles crossing where needed
