The Cuyahoga County Internal Communications Plan provides a roadmap for the Department of Communications to improve internal communications channels, create a positive, open, and supportive culture that values staff and ensures proactive, regular two-way communication among County staff. The Department of Communications sent more than a dozen internal email communications with critical information for employees including a return to telecommuting in January, the new wellness program, weather delays, a change in the mask policy and building access for tax season.
Emails were also sent to employees on lighter topics, such as parking for NBA All-Star Weekend, St. Patrick’s Day parade road closures, and a raffle to benefit Ukraine.
Communications published 20 new articles to the employee intranet, ranging from training opportunities through MyLearning for PowerPoint and NitroPro, the Board of Elections Employee Workers program, Medical Examiner Citizens Academy, Fitness and Wellness webinars, Playhouse Square discount program, NaloxBox training and the new payroll and timekeeping software.
The bi-weekly newsletter In the Know continues to be a source of important information and links to stories of interest to employees. Average open rate increased from 31.8% in Q4-21 to 37.33% in Q1-22.
In Q4-21, Communications created a podcast version of the newsletter to provide an alternative means of delivering the information. The In the Know podcast increased downloads per episode from 428.7% from Q4-21 to Q1-22.
In addition to the regular episodes of the podcast, Communications produced four special episodes in Q1-22 focused on the employee wellness program, the new timekeeping and payroll system, and the employee election day worker program with the Board of Elections.
