About this measure |
This measure tracks the value of improvements to County programs, services, and processes as a result of continuous improvement efforts.
Data are reported by the Cuyahoga County Office of Innovation and Performance (I&P) on a quarterly basis.
Why is this important? |
Cuyahoga County has a duty to continue to improve processes to ensure the maximum investment is made with public dollars received. I&P works with departments to identify process improvements and builds staff capacity to complete process improvement projects through the Cuyahoga County Innovation Academy (CCIA).
The value of improvements can be calculated in four different categories:
- Cost savings: Funding previously spent that can be reallocated or reduced,
- Avoided costs: Potential costs that are not spent due to an improved process,
- Productivity gains: Increase productivity or decrease in staff time to complete work, and
- Community benefits: Increase in benefits or decrease in cost to the community for services.
How are we making an impact? | |
In addition to training, Office of Innovation and Performance staff provide ongoing support to all CCIA Green Belt cohorts as they complete the required improvement project to receive certification. As of Q1-22, there were 27 active CCIA Green Belt projects.
Employees from Snap to Skills within the Department of Job and Family Services completed a process improvement project during Q1-22. The project created a series of training modules and desk aids for veteran staff, and training for newly hired staff. The development of new aids and trainings created an estimated $9,700 in savings as a result of less time spent on corrective errors.
