About this measure

This measure provides updates on community engagement activities managed by Cuyahoga County Department of Regional Collaboration.

Why is this important?

The Department of Regional Collaboration was established to support cost savings and cooperation between municipalities and the County. This collaboration and cooperation must be created among communities to build relationships that promote understanding of challenges and distribution of information that supports closing gaps in services for all communities in the County. This requires community outreach, two-way communication and feedback to determine and reexamine data for budget and programmatic decisions.

How are we making an impact?

Department of Regional Collaboration staff meets with Cuyahoga County mayors and managers on a regular basis to review the current shared services and to learn more about what other ways the County can support their municipal goals. Staff continues to host and participate in economic development tours, County outreach activities for residents, and collecting and sharing data with Cuyahoga County department directors.

Milestone Measure

The following are updates on current projects/programs aligned with this measure:

  • Hosted a mayors and managers meeting in early 2019 that brought all department chairs to meet with Cuyahoga County mayors and their staff to discuss how the County can support safety, economic development, sustainability, loan assistance, and public works in their communities.
  • Developed a newsletter specific for mayors and managers containing relevant and timely notifications of application deadlines and other County news to present collaboration, cost savings, and participation among the municipalities.
  • Developed and distributed the 2019 Municipalities Resource Guide to all 59 municipalities. The resource guide provides municipalities with an overview of the services offered through Cuyahoga County, a short description of the departments that offer the services, and department contact information.
  • Work began with a small cohort of mayors representing Brooklyn, Rocky River, Woodmere, and Lyndhurst to find innovative ways in which they can maximize impact while minimizing cost in their communities, and potentially throughout the county.
