Cuyahoga County has taken a number of steps to promote and protect voter registration and voting rights providing voter education and updates that enhance voter participation, like the annual Your Voice Matters Youth Summit. BOE staff also provide voter education, guidelines, and training to community members and organizations that submit Voter Registration Cards for processing. Cuyahoga County has also implemented the following to increase the ease and accessibility of voter registration: 1)Included access to voter registration services each time a resident applies for, renews benefits or changes their address, 2) Partnered with nonpartisan voter organizations who provide voter education and vote by mail opportunities at our Neighborhood Family Service Centers, 3) Held quarterly meetings with National Voter Registration Act site coordinators to provide training on supporting our clients’ quality completion of voter registration cards, 4) Conducted voter outreach services at food pantry sites, community festivals, recreation centers, resource/career fairs and senior centers and 5) Enabled online voter registration at Cuyahoga County Library branches. A Voting Rights Coordinator has also been hired to improve civic engagement opportunities and enhance voter registration efforts by working with the Cuyahoga County Department of Health and Human Services and other County agencies.
