About this measure

This measure provides current Medicaid enrollment numbers, including enrollment for critical Medicaid programs like Healthy Start, Long-Term Care, and Medicaid Expansion. Data for Cuyahoga County are reported by the Cuyahoga County Division of Job and Family Services with comparative data provided through the United States Census Bureau’s American Community Survey.

Please note an estimation has been used for Q2-19 data due to a delay in data being published by the Ohio Department of Medicaid.

Why is this important?

The Medicaid program helps with medical costs for low-income individuals, serving as a safety net to ensure the basic needs of children, families, adults, and older persons are met.

How are we making an impact?

The Division of Job and Family Services is currently researching the County’s density rate to determine areas where individuals may lack health insurance, meet the eligibility criteria for Medicaid, but are not seeking assistance. While researching the density rates, the agency has made internal adjustments, which has decreased the number of pending Medicaid applications by approximately 40% since January 2018. The Division of Job and Family Services will finalize the research aspects of the County’s Medicaid density rate and develop a community engagement plan to assist uninsured individuals.
