About this measure |
This measure tracks the number of youth and young adults that participate in County internship programs, including the PEEKE Internship Program, TANF Summer Youth Program (SYEP), and TANF Year-Round Employment Program (YREP). These programs serve youth and young adults aged 14 to 24 and are administered by Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.) through contracts with the Cuyahoga County Family and Children First Council and Cuyahoga County Division of Job and Family Services. During these programs, participants receive short-term employment opportunities that may lead to either permanent employment or credential training opportunities.
Data are reported by the Cuyahoga County Division of Job and Family Services on an annual basis.
Why is this important? |
Cuyahoga County internship programs provide young people with high quality work opportunities, training, and education that propel them toward a career path.
How are we making an impact? | |
In 2020, the Cuyahoga County Cuyahoga Division of Job and Family Services discontinued operation of the Cuyahoga County Internship Consortium. Data reported for 2020 provides the number of participants and number of participants hired for the following programs: TANF Summer Youth Program (SYEP), and TANF Year-Round Employment Program (YREP) .
The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) serves eligible youth under the Comprehensive Case Management and Employment Program (CCMEP). Eligible youth must meet TANF eligibility and reside in Cuyahoga County and either be between the ages of 14 and 24. The focus of the SYEP is to provide in-school youth with a paid work experience in order to assist county youth with an employment history, practical work experience, job skills, and knowledge of workplace norms. The program is short-term and designed to operate during the summer months.
