About this measure

This measure tracks the number of youth and young adults that participate in County internship programs, including the ProPath Internship Program, TANF Summer Youth Program (SYEP), TANF Year-Round Employment Program (YREP), and the Cuyahoga County Internship Consortium. These programs serve youth and young adults aged 14 to 24 and are administered by Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.) through contracts with the Cuyahoga County Family and Children First Council (FCFC) and Cuyahoga County Division of Job and Family Services. During these programs, participants receive short-term employment opportunities that may lead to either permanent employment or credential training opportunities.

Why is this important?

Cuyahoga County internship programs provide young people with high quality work opportunities, training, and education that propel them toward a career path.

How are we making an impact?

In 2017, Cuyahoga County worked with Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.) to create a comprehensive youth and young adult internship program. As this program continues to evolve, Cuyahoga County staff remain focused on increasing job placement and retention rates with employers. To support this effort the Division of Job and Family Services is working with program partners to evaluate performance metrics in the following areas:

  • Job Entry
  • Job Placement
  • Credential Attainment
  • Median Earnings
  • Job retention
