About this measure |
Measures included on this page show the total funding invested in municipal grants, community development supplemental grants, and demolition projects in Cuyahoga County and the number of projects funded. Cuyahoga County has a longstanding tradition of investing in communities, as well as providing funding for demolition.
Data are reported by the Cuyahoga County Department of Development on a quarterly basis.
Why is this important? |
Communities and neighborhoods are vital to a person’s decision on where to reside. To make communities more stable and desirable for people to live and thrive, Cuyahoga County invests in housing and community infrastructure to promote, attract, and retain residents . This investment enhances a community's aesthetics and protects the value of investments made by residents in their homes and neighborhoods. The performance measures reported allow the County to identify and review areas that have the most need or have been most affected by Department of Development initiatives and create concentrated strategic efforts to continue assistance in conjunction with the County and a partnering municipality's or organization's Master Plan for Housing and Community Development.
How are we making an impact? | |
During Q1-22, Municipal and Community Grant applications were reviewed by the Department of Development and other County representatives for scoring and recommendations for approval. There were 20 applications from 51 communities reviewed and recommended for the Municipal Grant; this includes a total of $2,733,018.00 in requests for:
- Projects for road/street/sidewalk repair and resurfacing,
- Parks and playground ADA improvements,
- Accessibility enhancements,
- Roof replacement, and
- Vehicle replacement
In addition, there were 37 applications from the 51 communities and/or non-profits that were reviewed, scored, and recommended for Supplemental Grants; this includes a total of $1,776,685.00 in requests for:
- City rebranding/wayfinding signage,
- Streetscapes/beautification,
- Trailheads/parks and playground construction/upgrades,
- Exterior homeowner maintenance,
- Building renovations,
- Safety vehicles,
- Road/street/sidewalk repair and resurfacing,
- Security cameras,
- Electric Charging Stations,
- Greenspace, and
- Demolition
If these projects are approved by Cuyahoga County Council in Q2-22, the Department of Development will fund 57 total projects at over $4.5M. These grants will support low-to-moderate income residents and communities, increase their safety, Increase neighborhood value, increase community opportunities, encourage growth and sustainability, and foster the ability to thrive in Northeast Ohio.
