The City continues to ramp up it's efforts to clean up the community. In addition to picking up litter multiple times per week on major City roadways, the City also picks up litter on state highways like 146 and 330 and along waterways like Goose Creek.
In 2019, Harris County went through a period of re-organization which resulted in the reduction of volunteer hours dedicated toward litter abatement, however, the City made adjustments to offset the reduction in hours.
In 2020, the world experienced the COVID-19 pandemic which limited in person interactions, caused people to be socially distant and heightened sanitary protocols which bled into 2021, which has resulted in a reduction of volunteers hours dedicated towards litter reduction.
