City staff has met with TxDOT to discuss the appearance and maintenance of their highway ramps. A commitment was made by TxDOT to partner with the City and launch a pilot project at one of the I-10 intersections. The City had budgeted $250,000 to move this initiative forward. Unfortunately, as the City started feeling the impacts of COVID-19, this funding was removed from the budget. As financial conditions improve, this initiative will be picked back up. In the meantime, City staff will continue encouraging TxDOT to make frequent sweeps of these areas and to correct more significant maintenance issues as they arise.
