The sign code has been amended to increase the distance of billboards on Interstate 10 from 500 feet to 1200 feet. This will help prevent the proliferation of excessive billboards along the City's interstate corridor and new San Jacinto Boulevard.
Previously, the code was amended to redefine signage in the right-of-way as trash that can be disposed of immediately. This does not include political or temporary signs. There are currently five pole signs being addressed as obsolete in the substandard structure program to ultimately remove them or make substantial repairs.
This strategy has been implemented and additional sign code amendments are underway.
