The Parks and Recreation Department began pressure washing and painting the city's bridges in 2015. The project included the handrails and in most cases, replacing the chain link safety fencing that is attached to several bridges. The project immediately changes the appearance of what was an eyesore into an attractive clean bridge.
To date, 14 bridges across the city have been cleaned and painted. Two bridges remain on the original list. One of the two bridges is 75% complete. The plan is to have both bridges complete by the end of the calendar year.
Several bridges may be added to the list in the future that are located in the newly annexed areas of Baytown. Staff will research the new areas and add to the list this coming spring/summer.
