Preliminary conversations with the Baytown Chamber of Commerce indicated that the City had in years past cooperated with the Chamber on a similar endeavor and that the Chamber had organized a Buy Baytown Committee. Meanwhile, the Public Affairs Division provided the City Manager with elements associated with that previous campaign.

A meeting with City staff and the Chamber Director took place on 02/12/18 and the launch of the Buy Baytown First campaign was discussed.  In preparation for the launch, the Chamber Director will collaborate with the Baytown Sun and Look Live publications to place advertorial content. Additionally, the City Manager will work with staff to develop a new logo and intro video featuring our Mayor. Businesses will be provided with window clings and other collateral materials for placement in retail locations. The City Manager and Chamber Director will continue to collaborate at the conclusion of future Chamber Board meetings.

The City's Public Affairs Division is working on the production of a comprehensive plan to implement the "Buy Baytown First" campaign. Once that is complete, the campaign will be finalized with the Chamber and shared with Council. The new logo design has already been approved by the City Manager.

The campaign has been shared with the Chamber and implementation is rolling forth.  The campaign itself will entail social media outreach, Channel 16 spots, and collateral materials distributed to businesses.

With the transition of the public affairs office, the new manager will engage this campaign in 2019.
