In June 2021, the Baytown Police Department launched its Bike Patrol a part of the department's Crime Prevention Unit. Several officers have become certified through the Police Mountain Bike Association to ride the bicycles. Certification allows officer to understand property fitness, nutrition, challenges of riding a bicycle while carrying heavy equipment, as well as working in large crowds and traffic. The department plans to utilize these specialty officers at events and at our parks.
