Initiatives

Execute a plan to bring Brunson and Citizens Bank buildings to resolution.
Revisit and implement policies and practices associated with facilitating investment in the Downtown Arts District (YR 1).
Design and implement the next phase of infrastructural improvements to the Downtown Arts District (YR 1).
Define Market Street District.
Begin implementing strategies from the Market Street District Plan specific to promoting development on Goose Creek waterfront.
Create an implementable plan to bring a refined, attractive, and distinct appearance to the Market Street district (YR 1).
Conduct roundtable discussions with Downtown Arts District building owners to encourage investment and new business growth.
Recruit and promote development and redevelopment on Market Street, Bayway, and Alexander during economic development conferences.
Revisit and develop recommendations associated with possible zoning modifications along Bayway.
Develop a long range plan to build a community recreation center.
Specifically probe small grocery interests on Market and Bayway.
Continue the redevelopment of the Downtown Arts District east of Town Square.
Probe and possibly act upon continued political and citizen interest in the development of a municipal golf course.
Pursue master plan of Bayland Island build-out.
Prioritize recruitment of businesses that cater to youth.
Continue development of hotel/conference center project.
Assess the feasibility of relocating the train to the Downtown Arts District.
Continue to work with developers to bring a multi-activity amenity to the Mall redevelopment area.
Develop concepts and plans associated with the long-term planning of waterfront properties at Evergreen Bluff, Decker, and Market.
Cooperate with Chambers County and TxDOT to begin the development of Victoria Walker Park (SH 146 and Cedar Bayou).
Plan for and begin the assemblage of property along Market and Decker (YR 1).
Assess the feasibility of locating the restaurant incubator in the Downtown Arts District.
Test the fiscal and physical feasibility of dredging Bayland Island and Evergreen Bluff.
Start the process to rehabilitate the stage and create more healthy outdoor activities at Bicentennial Park.
Identify potential code amendments that would facilitate redevelopment of buildings in the Downtown Arts District.
Implement additional lighting at Hutto Parkway and Jenkins Dog Park.
Conduct discussions with the Baytown Historical Museum Board regarding the creation of a Baytown Sports Hall of Fame.
Begin the implementation of the Russell Park Master Plan.

Facilitate a change of policies around alcohol sales/consumption to allow for more unique events to come to Baytown.

Plan for and/or initiate upgrades and expansions at Britton and Newcastle Parks, as well as plan for improvements at Calypso Cove.
Investigate and as feasible install park components for seniors.
Continue dialogue with County specific to participation in the development of Russell Park.
Begin reserving funds for the future acquisition of park space, i.e. – adjacent to Roseland Park, Bicentennial Park, and other opportunities.
Introduce Library story time program in select City parks.
Begin development of equestrian element at Russell Park.
Pilot a program of volunteer hosts at larger parks.
Pilot surveillance technology and other tools to enhance safety and security of parks.
Increase police presence on trails and in parks.
Finish development of the Citizens Bank building.
