The Emergency Response Improvement Plan was broken up into several categories. Updates for each of the categories include:
Communications
- Completed the integration of E-Notify/Emerge.
- Implemented Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Notification Groups and monthly tests.
- Set up the Return To Duty phone line.
- Set up a new Go To Meeting conference call system.
- Upgraded to the web based Federal Signal Commander One software.
- Implemented a Mass Notification Special Operations Group.
- Performed equipment maintenance and upgrades to the AM 1610 radio equipment.
Logistics and Supplies
- Organized and transferred emergency equipment and supplies to a central storage facility with newly installed storage racks.
- Purchased animal crates, towels, tarps, and hygiene kits.
- Transferred shelter cots, blankets, and bedding materials to central storage facility.
- Picked Up Red Cross shelter cots and located them in the central storage facility.
- Purchased EOC food supplies.
Volunteers
- Coordinated with the United Way of Greater Baytown for quick volunteer response.
- Re-launched the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program.
Fleet and Infrastructure
- Continued the maintenance of High-Water Vehicles.
- Completed High-Water Vehicle training for various personnel.
Emergency Operations Center
- Received UASI Grant award and have begun to gather detailed specs to implement EOC upgrades, which will include new computers, additional monitors, and an enhanced command conference room.
- Created a Public Information (PIO) Room adjacent to EOC Call Center/Phone Bank for streamlined communications.
City Preparedness
- Taught ICS 300 and 400 (federally approved emergency management courses) and EOC 101 training to city employees.
- Completed an SNS Medical POD Exercise in October.
