The Part 1 Crime Rate is determined by looking at the number of Part 1 crimes reported to law enforcement agencies per 100,000 total population. Part 1 crimes include violent crime (criminal homicide, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault) and property crime (burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft and arson).
