Analysis

A meeting has been scheduled with the TXDOT regional director to discuss an expanded effort in Baytown to clean bridges, overpasses, on ramps, etc.  Such can and likely will include shared costs.

The meeting referenced above resulted in a few exciting new possible initiatives.  The Regional Director expressed a desire to pilot a new program in Baytown, whereby the City would assume primary responsibility for the remediation of highway debris/litter and TXDOT would pay for those services in much the same manner as they current pay a third party contractor.  The City Manager is working with both Parks and Public Works to develop a methodology of sweeping 146, 330, and I-10 at least once a week utilizing (at least on Public Work's side) primarily overtime to augment the Clean Team.  The ambition is to launch this program in the summer.
