Pursue funding and advocacy opportunities to secure resources for Nevada County.

  1. This includes submitting grants, identifying opportunities in State and Federal budgets, engaging in advocacy opportunities, and engaging in/supporting the CERF process.

Progress Update

Mar-23
    • As an initial step to build capacity for this initiative, Nevada County submitted an application in February 2023 and was approved for CivicSpark fellow through CivicWell. The CivicSpark Fellow to work full-time on the county’s climate resilience objective starting in September 2024 for an approximate year-long fellowship.
    • In collaboration with the Truckee Climate Transformation Alliance (CTA) and Sierra Business Council (SBC), Nevada County submitted a $360,000 Adaptation and Planning Grant proposal to the Governor's Office of Planning and Research Integrated Climate Adaptation and Resiliency Program. Grant will support plan development and establishment of a climate collaborative in Western Nevada County.

Next Steps

    • Recruit CivicSpark fellow.
    • Develop 2023 grants plan.
    • Convene planning team and begin proposal development for Regional Climate Collaboratives grant.
    • Participate in regional collaborative to apply for US EPA’s Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Program (CPRG) to develop climate plans that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution and associated criteria and toxic air pollution Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District.
