OES leads crisis and disaster recovery efforts, including support for residents seeking public Assistance, County reimbursement from State and Federal sources, as well as hazard remediation and debris removal.


Progress Update

Q1-23

The Office of Emergency Services (OES) supported all-hazards community recovery from both winter storms and wildfire. 

Highlights from Q1 (January-March 2023) include: 

  • Finalized collection of invoices and accounting for the December 2021 Winter Storm.
  • Brought the Jones Fire state and federal reimbursement to the County Board of Supervisors for acceptance and rescinded the Local Emergency Proclamation.
  • Continued to submit the paperwork required for the state reimbursement of costs associated with the December 2021 Winter Storm.
  • Began the information gathering process for state and federal cost recovery claims stemming from the January and late February 2023 Winter Storms.
  • Responded to requests for information related to the cost recovery efforts associated with the River Fire of August 2021.

Next Steps

Q1-23

The Office of Emergency Services (OES) will continue efforts to support community resilience through efficient recovery from natural disasters. 

Plans for Q2 (April-June 2023) include:

  • Complete the submission of the December 2021 Winter Storm project paperwork.
  • Work to complete the final cost recovery submission for the River Fire of August 2021 .
  • Work with FEMA & Cal OES staff to establish recovery projects for costs and damages related to the January and late February 2023 Winter Storms.
