What is it?
This represents the average number of pounds recycled per resident per month. Note: monthly data is subject to seasonal variations.
Why is it important?
Recycling is important for environmental sustainability. Higher amounts of recycling lead to less waste ending up in landfills. It is also important from a financial perspective. The more we recycle, the less waste we produce, and the less we pay to dispose of our waste. This measure is one of the indicators we review monthly, as well as annually during our strategic planning and budgeting processes, to evaluate our success in achieving Strategic Goal #5 - A Vibrant Community.
What do we do to achieve the goal?
The results depend greatly on resident commitment to proper recycling. We are committed to providing our residents with the information, tools, and incentives to continue and increase the use of environmentally friendly practices.
