Description
This chart shows the percentage of Charlottesville Public School students who receive free or reduced price meals at their schools. Children from families with incomes at or below 130 percent of the poverty level are eligible for free meals. Those between 130 percent and 185 percent of the poverty level are eligible for reduced-price meals, for which students can be charged no more than 40 cents for lunch and 30 cents for breakfast.
Analysis
This chart shows that more than half of students in Charlottesville Public Schools receive free or reduced meals. This number may be deflated because not all children who might be eligible for assistance apply for it.
