The Strategic Plan includes several interdepartmental initiatives that will help our organization be responsible stewards of our natural resources, a key component of urban environmental sustainability that includes the natural and the built environment.  As “A Green City,” Charlottesville pursues both the responsible use as well as the protection of the natural environment through conservation and sustainable practices.  Water resources protection, green infrastructure management, clean energy strategies, and resource conservation are program focus areas supporting this stewardship posture.  Partnerships with internal program teams as well as community stakeholders contribute to effective stewardship outcomes.  Staff participates in various peer networks and working groups to gain knowledge and experience that can contribute to the success of this objective.
