Current Strategy
Implement effective strategies, programs and services that respond to the emergent safety needs of community members in a timely way and offer strategies for avoidance of re-occurrence or re-victimization. Multiple departments contribute to the success of this objective including fire, social services, police and human services.
The Department of Social Services provides 24 hour response to reports of abuse and neglect involving children and vulnerable adults. DSS staff ensures immediate safety needs are met, and develops a service plan to meet long term safety and stability needs.
The Trauma Informed Care network is working to educate community providers about service models that reduce recurrence of trauma and victimization. The Department of Social Services is a leader in this network, and serves on the steering committee.
