Historical data of CIT-trained officers, some of whom were trained over a decade a ago, and training data for newer officers is in the process of being accurately collated as a joint effort between the department's Staff Development Unit and the city's CIT Coordinator. 

This time last year the department had 64 of its then 124 officers CIT trained - 56%. 

Description

The Charlottesville Police Department's "soft" goal is to have at least half of all sworn police officers trained through the now renown Crisis Intervention Team to aid in deescalation of crisis situations and to better render aid to mental health consumers.
