Description |
The Office of Human Rights conducts three main types of community outreach:
Service Provision: Staff share information about the services provided by the Office of Human Rights and the Human Rights Commission, while answering any questions community members may have.
Education & Awareness: Events hosted by the Office of Human Rights, often in collaboration with other community agencies or groups, designed to provide information about discrimination and bias.
Facilitation & Leadership: Events during which Office of Human Rights Staff are asked to provide guidance and leadership as a collaborative partner.
People who attend Education & Awareness events are asked to complete an event participation questionnaire.
This measure is the sum total of all attendees who attended an Education & Awareness event and those who completed a participation questionnaire.

CY2018
We tested the participation questionnaire at three Education & Awareness events. Of the 182 attendees at these events, 90 completed the survey. However, we did not consistently collect attendance data or take a complete count of all of the Education & Awareness events held in 2018.
CY2019
Use of the questionnaire was not integrated into event organization. One challenge with applying the questionnaire is that outreach events are typically conducted by a single staff person. Given this constraint, consistent use of the questionnaire may require volunteer support. Successful use of the questionnaire in 2018 was linked to an events where there were two staff or interns present to pass out and collect the questionnaires.
CY2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the OHR did not host any Education & Awareness outreach events this year and thus did not collect any responses to participation questionnaires.
