The Office of Human Rights conducts three main types of community outreach:
Service Provision: Staff share information about the services provided by the Office of Human Rights and the Human Rights Commission, while answering any questions community members may have.
Education & Awareness: Events hosted by the Office of Human Rights, often in collaboration with other community agencies or groups, designed to provide information about discrimination and bias.
Facilitation & Leadership: Events during which Office of Human Rights Staff are asked to provide guidance and leadership as a collaborative partner.
People who attend Education & Awareness events are asked to complete an event participation questionnaire.
This measure is the percentage of those who attended an Education & Awareness outreach event, completed an event participation questionnaire, and agreed or strongly agreed that they felt more prepared to work toward eliminating discrimination in their community.

CY2014 through CY2017
During this period the Office of Human Rights did not use an event participant satisfaction survey.
CY2018
2018 was the first year the Office of Human Rights began using an event participation questionnaire. Staff tested the questionnaire at three Education & Awareness community outreach events. While only 90 people completed an event participation questionnaire, 92% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that they felt more prepared to work toward eliminating discrimination in their community.
In CY2019, the Office of Human Rights will attempt to use the questionnaire more frequently at Education & Awareness community outreach events in order to gather a broader perspective on the impact of these events.
CY2019
Use of the questionnaire was not integrated into event organization. One challenge with applying the questionnaire is that outreach events are typically conducted by a single staff person. Given this constraint, consistent use of the questionnaire may require volunteer support. Successful use of the questionnaire in 2018 was linked to an events where there were two staff or interns present to pass out and collect the questionnaires.
CY2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the OHR did not host any Education & Awareness outreach events this year and thus did not collect any responses to participation questionnaires.
