The Employment Specialist created nine job postings for civilian vacancies; collaborated with hiring managers and City Talent Acquisition regarding posting verbiage, interview questions, preferences, and candidates screening. Employment Specialist met with Civil Service staff to review the Reserve Officer Program. Section Manager submitted a M&C requesting two Reserve Officers.  Section Manager reviewed interview questions for two sworn vacancies. MRC Supervisor met with an employee to discuss the ADA Reassignment process

Section Manager, Finance Manager and ASC Assistant Director met with the ACM to discuss recruitment for Police Trainee Class 146, and Lateral Entry Class 6.  Section Manager and Employment Specialist met with City HR Staff to discuss the Police Trainee hiring process & timeline.  Employment Specialist recruited for four vacant positions; total of 371 candidates applied.  Recruiting processes included conferencing with hiring managers and City Talent Acquisition on various occasions. 

Medical Records Unit Supervisor participated on an interview panel for the Program Support Division.  Employment Specialist created seven civilian job requisitions which yielded a total of 460 candidates.

  • Section Manager and Supervisors participated in the monthly HRC/ELRD Conference to receive training and up-to-date information on changes affecting City HR processes. Section Manager and Employment Services Specialist attended 2 days  of a 3-day TxPELRA and Annual Civil Service Workshop.  All staff participated in the ASC teambuilding training presented by the ASC Assistant Director and a trainer from the City Budget and Performance Office. MRC Supervisor attended Hiring 101 training.

    Section Manager and Employment Specialist attended day 3 of the Annual Civil Service Workshop. Team participated in the City ELRD/HRC Monthly Conference Call to get updates to HR events and processes.  Support staff attended Crucial Conversations Training and MRC Training. 

    Section Manager and Employment Specialist attended the New M&C Process training. Section Manager, Employment Specialist & MR Supervisor participated in the following Webinar trainings: How to Win Unemployment Claims,  and FMLA, ADA, & Workers' Comp. Section Manager also participated in these additional webinars: Strategies to Address Current Trends in LE Recruiting, and Digital Transformation - What it Means for HR; and participated in the FY2020 Budget Development Process.  All participated in the Monthly ELRD/HRC Conference Call.  Medical Records Supervisor attended the Red Cross Infant & Adult First Aid/AED certification class.

  • Section team met with City HR Classification & Compensation to review Section tasks and processes to assess for efficiencies.  Section Manager participated in the City Budget and Performance Office focus group to assist in the planning of the redeveloped rollout of the City's Talent Development Philosophy.  Employment Specialist met with the incoming Talent Acquisition Manager regarding the recruitment and hiring processes for the PD, and facilitated a Meet & Greet.

    Section Manager participated in a focus group to address how incentive and supplemental pays are processed.  Team representatives attended a Budget Reconciliation meeting with City Budget and PD Finance representatives.  Section Manager and MRC Supervisor met with PD Stakeholders and City Risk Management to review the workers' compensation and liability information from the previous fiscal year and the current fiscal year to date. 

    Section Manager participated in four sworn Unemployment Hearings in collaboration with City Legal and in facilitation with City ELRD; Consulted with Legal on an ADA issue; and Met with a City representative regarding the CJIS process for contracted employees.  Section Manager and Employment Specialist met with a City HR Class and Comp representative and PD Managers regarding a proposal for a General Employee Internship Program.  The Medical Records Supervisor participated in the Legal Meeting regarding pending Benefit Review Conferences & Contested Case Hearings.

  • Section Manager met with the Forensic Science Division Manager and representatives from City HR Class & Comp to discuss the Forensic Scientist job class series and new license requirements. Employment Specialist met with an employee regarding the option for extending their probationary status.  Section Manager reviewed Blue Team disciplinary actions and made recommendations in coordination with City ELRD representative.  MRC Supervisor attended the funeral services of an officer to meet with the family to assist with benefit information.

    Section Manager participated in an unemployment prep meeting to provide case information and to assist in facilitating the witness testimony.  MRC Supervisor met with ASC Assistant Director to explain Medical Records Duty Status Tracking and Reporting.  MRC Supervisor attending the Legal Meeting to provide case information for pending Benefit Review Conferences & Contested Case Hearings. Employment Specialist provided counsel to management regarding acting pay and a request to waive the recruitment process.

    Section Manager screened four sworn position interview questions and provided consultation on edits.  The Employment Specialist facilitated a Civilian Unemployment Hearing w/Hiring Manager.
