    We identified a part time position and in the process of reclassification to hire a camera technician.  The technician will be responsible for building and maintaining the camera inventory allowing officers to be in the field installing the cameras.

  • CTU has been established internally by taking officers from Narcotics, Gang, and Intel.  6 other officers have been loaned to the project from SRT on a trial basis with no guarantee that Patrol will allow to stay.  They are measuring the success of the program, as are we, however Patrol is doubtful of its success.  Notes will be compared in March to see if this unit is effective.  Either way CTU will remain and 6 additional officers will be taken internally from Tactical Command if Patrol decides to remove SRT from the plan.

  • We have purchased 4 new drones with enhanced video capability for night time operations.  They have been deployed on several SWAT operations and proved beneficial to commanders on scene.  At some point this will evolve into its own unit as the needs and uses are increasing rapidly.

    In Early December Narcotics and HIDTA conducted 2 large scale operations resulting in 2.5 million dollars (street value) in narcotics and 31 firearms.

  • Northside and East side boxing gyms sent kids to a National Boxing tournament in Chattanooga, TN and we had a child make it to the semi-finals. FWPAL has continued with the Cal Ripken Mentorship program mentoring 45 kids with 8 mentors. The PAL cheerleaders traveled to Desoto, Texas and placed 1st in the Sophomore age division and 1st place in the Junior age division. The Sophomore and Junior Captains also placed 1st in Individual Jumps. Planned and put together the Chief of Police Joel Fitzgerald’s 1st Annual Youth Fundraiser that took place on November 1st. East PAL took 4 kids that competed in a boxing tournament in Duncanville and 3 kids won championship belts. FWPAL Board of Directors agreed to bring the Teen Academy under its scope of responsibility for support. At the 5 week course FWPAL will provide pizza’s to the 45- 50 kids in attendance and will recruit from this pool of youth for its sports programs and provide mentorship for bullying etc. PAL provided pizza for the Teen Academy twice in the month of October and spoke to the kids about coming on board.  

    The Chief's fundraiser on Nov. 1st was a success; PAL had 30 youth volunteers at the event.  PAL added 20 new participants and 5 new volunteers sign up for the upcoming basketball season.  PAL youth participated in a community clean up in South Fort Worth Nov. 4th.  PAL recruited 16 elementary schools to participate in basketball and cheerleaders leagues with commitments from 10 schools.  Pal is expecting around 50 students from each school to sign-up.

  • Fleet availability has been down this month.  Identified formula that requires 3 vehicles for each beat and 1 relief vehicle for every 3 beats.  This will require an additional 54 patrol units to satisfy this formula and ensure there are adequate vehicles for the patrol officers.  Working with PMD to start the process of adding vehicles to the fleet. 

    PD met with PMD and explained the additions needed to the Fleet in order to achieve 95% availability.  This is a work in progress with many justifications needed.  Currently PMD will not allow additions to the Fleet without further justification per policy.  We are currently working on those justification documents to submit for additions to the PD Fleet.

  • Property Management Fleet Department has offered us access to their new FASTER fleet software. We will evaluate this software to see if it is an acceptable solution. They are planning go live within the next 30 days.  PMD has not yet activated the system where PD Fleet has access as of yet.

  • Auto Return was selected as the tow management vendor. CFW Auto Pound worked with the vendor for the implementation of new software.  Software has been implemented and working properly. 

    AR is complete and fully operational showing significant reduction in personnel hours and wrecker response times.  Each month the data shows more improvements.
