We have the Homeless Liaison, the Shelter District NPO, and two other officers who are not subject to call to work the area. We are still awaiting the approval and funding of the needs assessment to increase the size of the dedicated unit. The Crisis Intervention Team is in place and Central Division has a dedicated officer. The two person Homeless Detail is working along with Patrol Officers in an improved system in which they attend daily roll call with Patrol. I have requested a full team consisting of a sergeant and at least seven more officers but city-wide staffing does not permit this at this time. Assistant Chief Kraus has assigned Lieutenant Amy Ladd to research and assess the needs of a full-blown Shelter District team.
