There has been no funding received for night-vision goggles or retro-fitting of one helicopter for the use of night-vision goggles. We have requested this equipment through needs assessment. In addition, other strategies are being discussed that might impact this goal.

This plan has been put on hold, but it was added as a requirement in the specifications moving forward with the new helicopter.  Once we know which helicopter we will be purchasing, and which helicopter we will be trading in during the purchase (all based on the returned bids from the RFP) we will then look into the cost of transitioning the remaining helicopter to NVG compatibility.

This plan has been placed on hold until a new helicopter can be purchased, so that a determination can be made based on a single manufacturer, or possibly two different manufacturers.  

The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) revision is still being written in anticipation of a new helicopter. The make and model of the helicopter could impact the SOP language. The SOP is being reviewed at the Deputy Chief level for approval.

A new draft was completed this last week, and turned into Lieutenant Keenum. There are significant changes that need to be made and should have an updated version for approval within the next month or so, depending on possible organizational changes.

This goal is now being hindered by antiquated equipment and the slow purchasing process.  Once we move forward with a new airframe, changes can be made and a new plan may be implemented.

This goal has changed from the Air Support Unit to be more of a support role for Lieutenant Keenum and the other units he supervises. This is more of  a Strategic Goal for the Patrol Support Section – To assist with MHMR – CIT, Tactical Medic Unit – Air Support Unit.   A needs Assessment was completed for FY 2018 – Which was denied due to PD being over budget, and additional civilian positions were frozen
