Measure Definition & Importance |
To proactively upgrade residential lighting by installing LED fixtures and replacing damaged components of old infrastructure (street light poles, wire and electrical services). By utilizing contractual services engineering and contract management staff have an annual goal to convert 275 lights in the 75th percentile MMA which currently have an inventory of 13,000 lights in poor condition. Street light repairs, replacements, and LED conversions promote vehicular as well as personal safety for all citizens whether they are driving, cycling, or walking across town. Providing street lights helps residents feel safe while also creating a more active lifestyle. The 275 target is associated with the Rask & Culture Taskforce goal of a 2% annual reduction of 13,000 poor lights in 75% MMAs.
