Measure Definition & Importance |
Vegetation maintenance consists of mowing drainage easements at a minimum of 3 times a year. Vegetation in drainage easements must be managed in order to allow the open channel system to operate at designed conditions, thus allowing optimal conveyance of stormwater and reducing flood risk, erosion damage, and slope failure. The Stormwater Field Operations Team uses tractors combined with batwing mowers, brush hog mowers, and weed eaters to perform the necessary mowing of drainage easements. Once a drainage easement is identified for maintenance by field engineering and the proper prep work is done, the drainage easement is placed on the mowing schedule within their capability of resources.
