| | (ARCHIVED) Increase the # of VITA tax returns by 15%.NS-Neighborhood Services |
Measure Definition & Importance |
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program provides FREE income tax preparation services to low and moderate income individuals and families. Community volunteers are trained as tax preparers and meet with taxpayers one-on-one to prepare and file their tax returns. VITA is an IRS program. Through the efforts of community volunteers, VITA helps those who need it most keep their hard earned money. VITA brings millions of dollars back into the local economy through refunds and valuable tax credits. The City of Fort Worth operates 8 VITA locations in Tarrant County. Tracking the number of completed returns enables us to evaluate our outreach methods to ensure continued growth. Each taxpayer utilizing VITA saves money by not going to a paid tax preparer. This goal will be measured utilizing historical data.
