The Chemistry Unit is responsible for the analysis of all possible drug evidence submitted to the Crime Lab. Submitted substances are analyzed for ther presence or absence of controlled substances. The Tarrant County DA needs final confirmatory results on controlled substances within 90 days of case being filed; therefore, in order to get the information to the DA cases should be completed within 60 days. The industry standard in Crime Laboratory Chemistry Units is a 120 day turnaround time average for controlled substances.
